The Bible

The Bible is the basis of Mary Baker Eddy’s teachings. About it she wrote, “The Bible has been my only authority” and “my only textbook,” “the chart of life" and that which “contains the recipe for all healing,” (Science and Health, pp. 126, 110, 24, 406). Christian Scientists of all ages study the Bible and work to apply the lessons learned from Scripture in their daily lives. The Bible and  Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy comprise the pastor of the denomination and are central to Sunday School and adherents' ongoing study. more about the Bible

Science and Health

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures is Mary Baker Eddy’s primary work and the definitive textbook on Christian Science.  It explains the scientific laws behind the teachings and healings of Christ Jesus. Bible Lesson

Christian Scientists regularly study Bible Lessons, published in the Christian Science Quarterly, which consist of correlated passages from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, the basic texts for the study of Christian Science. Every day, Christian Scientists apply what they learn from their study in healing disease, injury, and all kinds of other problems, plus praying for the world. At the end of the week the Bible Lesson is used as the sermon in Sunday church services. There is a new Bible Lesson each week.  more

Pastor

The pastor of this Church is two books: The Bible and Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy. For church services and meetings in Christian Science branch churches throughout the world, democratically elected lay members of the congregation read aloud from the pastor. The sermon they read on Sundays is the Bible Lesson, as described above.  On Wednesdays, they read an original compilation of texts from the Bible and Science and Health on a particular topic.  learn more
